10,000 Helena's Hope Bags

Major Milestone

We are proud to celebrate a special milestone for one of our most meaningful service projects... 10,000 Helena’s Hope Bags have been distributed to individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.

Dedicated to the memory of a dear friend of The Giving Tree, Helena’s Hope Bags honor Helena Boyle, a compassionate homeless outreach worker who spent her days caring for those often overlooked.

Each Helena’s Hope Bag continues her spirit of kindness. Filled with cold-weather essentials, these bags provide comfort and care to individuals living on the streets or in local shelters. Reaching the milestone of 10,000 bags is a powerful reminder of how small acts of compassion make a meaningful difference.

Through this project, Helena’s legacy of hope and generosity continues to live on... one bag, at a time.

Project of the Month

Cozy Care Planter

The Cozy Care Planter, invites students to decorate a small flowerpot and fill it with snacks to brighten the day of a resident at a local senior care facility.

This simple act of kindness helps students connect with and show care

for the elderly community.

Each project kit includes all materials, instructions, an educational spotlight, and discussion questions.

Spring Service Ideas

Spring break is just around the corner

for many school districts. This is a great time to think about community service projects with the kids:

  • Take a walk. Clean up trash along the way.
  • Create cards for the elderly community.
  • Send pizza to the local police/fire department.
  • Use chalk to write inspiring messages on the sidewalk.
  • Help a neighbor with yard clean up.
  • Kitchen table service projects are a perfect teaching opportunity while keeping the kids busy. Keep our various project ideas in mind.
