And the Best Small Affordable Housing

Project Is...

17 Mississippi Apartments

The NHP Foundation (NHPF) is the 2024 Housing Achievement Award winner in the "Best Small Affordable Housing Project" category for its 17 Mississippi Apartments project. This recognition celebrates the standout contribution to affordable housing within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region, specifically highlighting projects with 100 units or less that have made a meaningful impact.

Why 17 Mississippi Apartments Stands Out:

  • A Commitment to Affordability: With all 41 units aimed at 50% AMI, 17 Mississippi Apartments prioritizes affordability, providing high-quality homes for artists, families, and individuals transitioning from homelessness.

  • Cultivating Community: The inclusion of a 1,000 sq. ft. artist studio and community room underscores the project's commitment to fostering a vibrant community space.

  • Focus on Sustainability: Further enhancing its appeal are its sustainability certifications, including Enterprise Green Community and DOE's Zero Energy Ready Homes.

17 Mississippi Apartments is a great example of how affordability, sustainability, and a focus on community well-being can be successfully integrated into housing. This achievement was made possible through collaborative efforts, underscoring the importance of partnership. We are proud to shoutout NHPF's project partners, including Soto Architecture and Urban Design, Legacy Real Estate Development, Hamel Builders, MaGrann & Associates, Bowman DC, Ehlert Bryan, Capitol Engineering Group, and Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc.

Join us at the 33rd Annual HAND Honors to honor NHPF's accomplishments, and stay tuned to learn about the rest of this year's award winners! This is your chance to gather with industry leaders and peers as we applaud the NHPF and their fellow Housing Achievement Awardees.
