“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent
about things that really matter.”
Martin Luther King, Jr
.
Dear Southern Door Community,
Monday is Martin Luther King Day as a federally observed day. Now more than ever, Dr. King’s legacy remains important to the development of our society where every person matters. As we continue to educate our children and ourselves about what the importance of our rights and freedoms means, remember that we each have a responsibility, as adults, to help our students become advocates for others, now and in the future. Dr. King’s message went beyond "Black and White"; he also dealt with issues of gender stereotypes, poverty, and privilege.
It is often said that, as humans, we are more alike than different. Getting involved in our school, churches, and community organizations is a great way that we can be role models to our children in honoring the work of Dr. King, and others, whom we admire by choosing to “make a difference” in the lives of those around us.
It's hard to believe that our school year is already half over. We will be starting the second semester of school on Monday. It is a great time for us to reflect on what has been accomplished so far this year, and what is still needed for us to reach our goals as students, parents, staff, and district for this school year! As I attend many of our student events, it's been great to see the community support, whether its filling the Eagle gym at a game/match or selling out the auditorium for the 5th grade musical. Your support inspires our Eagle Pride and demonstrates our school community's being Eagle Strong!

Late Nite Catechism! 7pm February 23, 2019
An uproarious and widely acclaimed one-woman show that takes audience members back-sometimes nostalgically, sometimes fearfully, to the children they once were. The Irrepressible Sister teaches an adult catechism class to a roomful of “Students” (the audience). Over the course of the play, Sister goes from benevolent instructor, rewarding the “students” for correct answers with glow-in the dark rosaries and laminated saint cards, to authoritative drill sergeant.
Adults $15, Seniors $12, Youth $8.00
Tickets can also be purchased at any of the Southern Door School offices.
