Insider Issue #101

PodiatryMeetings.com is where podiatry’s physicians, vendors, and conferences connect. We combine industry media, conference intelligence, strategic consulting, and relationship-building to help great ideas find the right audience.

Since you didn't ask...

The other day, while avoiding a project, I took a look at the data from my event calendar subscribers and email subscribers and found that:

  • 66% of my audience are using Google (Gmail / Google calendar)
  • 27% are using Apple (Apple mail / icalendar)
  • Only 6-7% are using a Microsoft/Outlook product

I thought this was interesting because 50% of my email opens are on a standard computer (not mobile device) and I remember from my days of working in an office that if you’re opening email at work on a computer rather than a mobile device, it’s probably through Outlook; apparently that assumption is wrong.

Why do you care? What does this mean for you? Knowing where your patients or customers live digitally should influence how you communicate with them. That means everything from email testing to appointment scheduling, calendar integrations to search results, and everything in between.

We build processes around the tools we use but are we considering which tools our audience is using?

FINAL THOUGHTS

I’ve said it before: success is built on relationships.

The recent Balance Health Summit may have been one of the best examples of that I’ve ever experienced.

The best events start with a strong foundation. We tend to think that foundation is the venue, the agenda, the production, or any of the hundreds of other details that have to come together.

But really, it’s the people.

For this event, that started with Dr. Lowell Weil Jr. and Jacqui Pieroni trusting me to help with details, logistics, and the industry partner experience, while giving me the freedom to bring ideas to the table and make them happen.

Add in my AV superheroes (Steven and his SurgiCast crew), all the way from Orlando, who went along with my late night screenshots and brain dumps. Plus the GOAT photography and videography team (Doug from Orlando Productions), also all the way from Orlando, who captured not just what we created, but the moments that reminded us why we do it.

That’s the thing about relationships. You build them one project, one conference, one late-night problem, and one “I’ve got you” at a time. Eventually, those relationships become the team that makes something pretty special possible.

I’m incredibly grateful for the trust Dr. Weil has placed in me over the years. Balance Health is doing something different in podiatry, not simply in its growth, but in the emphasis it places on physician leadership, education, collaboration, industry relationships, and bringing its people together.

Last week, you could feel it in the energy with packed sessions, hallway conversations, the exhibit hall, and people who genuinely seemed happy to be together.

After months of planning, hundreds of details, very late nights, and approximately one million emails, standing in the middle of it and watching it all come together was pretty damn special.
