Congratulations to these newest CMPs!
I have crossed paths during their preparation through a mixture of my 16 hour virtual classes, my two-day in person classes, the MPI Global Master Class, my videos, and some random conversations. I am very proud and happy for all of you, and it means a lot to have been part of your journey.

Things That Interest Me...and Maybe You
Blueprint for a Healthy Meeting ®? RERUN—Sorry the link did not work!
Sharon DeFelices, CMP, a Planner, Chef and Nutritionist, of Mosaic Meetings and Events recently hosted a cooking demonstration on preparing easy, healthy, interesting lunches for everyone working from home (and other places!). Take a look!
“In Any Event”—A podcast hosted by Eventsquid
I had my first guest appearance on a podcast! I was honored, and it was fun, to be the second ever guest on this new podcast. Michael Kranitz, the CEO of Eventsquid and I had a great time discussing….well lots of things. We are not afraid to speak our minds even when it is not the loudest point of view in the industry.
Instead of reading my latest thoughts, take a listen…

This research will definitely impact meetings, events, hotels, restaurants---even after the pandemic. Who knew there was scientific research on this?

One on One
Any questions you want to ask others or even the entire group? Let me know and we will get it out there. Joanne@JoanneDennison.com
Two questions people are looking for answers on…
Ligia Alas Guerra (and everyone else) wants to know:
What are Organizations planning as of now for 2021?
(I’ve asked her to share what she finds out in a future issue).
Or answer her directly at:
Ligia Alas Guerra
Director, Meetings CRF Center for Education
Cardiovascular Research Foundation
What are you finding in venue negotiations for 2021?
Waiving attrition? F&B minimum? Waiving cancellation for group contracts? None of the above? Other?
And are these negotiations Hotel Brand wide, or based on a planners relationship?
Planners and suppliers are welcome to reply—I can post answers anonymously if you would like. Normally "One on One" is just that, but I have the feeling everyone is going to want to see these answers…so email me at joanne@joannedennison.com

Looking for planners who plan for large groups of attendees with disabilities
Had a great response to this and look forward to hosting this event in December. More information to follow. If you are a planner who fits this description and are interested in being involved, please contact me
For 10-15 years I have been trying to get someone to do due this panel at a conference and I have decided thanks to the world of virtual meetings— I’m going to!
I am looking for planners who plan meetings for groups where more than half of the attendees have a disability. I always felt that was the best source of information because you have to think, plan, and strategize many things very differently than other meetings. If you are someone, or know someone, who would want to talk with me about this, please contact me at joanne@joannedennison.com. I am planning on creating this free session before the end of the year.

Yes—It is possible to finish your CMP by the end of the year...
|
- if you qualify to apply! It does not have to take a year, or 6 months—in fact it is frequently harder the longer you take.
Here is a link to an overview info session about the CMP as my troop calls it: “A-Z”

November Meeting and Events CMP Intensive Class
If you are interested in my upcoming November 17-20, 2020 Class, the link is below. Make sure you check out the FAQ---we took every question we could remember being asked in the past few months and answered them!
Also it is a new time to make it more accessible to people who have not been able to attend, including those in Asia (so you don’t have to get up at 3:30 am).

Heather Eick, CMP asked me “What is the CMP Verification I am getting emails about, and people are posting on LinkedIn? Do I want it?”
Honestly, I had asked the same thing in my head and had not claimed mine. So I checked with my friend at EIC who I trust for answers on all things CMP. Although she is not a CMP, she is a Certification Expert and always working to increase the value and awareness of the CMP. She said:
“Super high level --the badge is a digital representation of a learning outcome, experience or competency (in this case the CMP certification) that can be shared and verified online in a way that is easy and secure. In today’s environment, it’s make a lot more sense for our CMPs to claim their badges and leverage that data as they search for jobs, etc. For example, instead of employers coming to EIC for a reference check, CMPs can now share their digital transcripts with employers directly so it cuts down on the reference check process. New (or not so new) CMPs can display their badge on LinkedIn to take credit for their abilities and increase their chances of being noticed by their network and potential employers."
EIC has also transitioned to wall certificates being printed through the digital badge platform (both because the team is still working remotely but also because it fits with our sustainability efforts), so newly minted CMPs don’t need to wait months for a wall certificate for their home office. I’m a huge fan of digital badging and I suspect you’ll be seeing more and more certifications pivoting to them over the next few years.

Why should you go visit a chapter you don't belong to
One of the beautiful things about virtual is it allows us to go to presentations and events we may never have been able to, and meet people we might never have gotten to know.
To the right are five upcoming events from my Marketing Partners that you will want to take a look at ---and find the right one (or more) to attend?
A lot of diverse topics on virtual and hybrid---but other topics too! For two of them it is their Education Day/Conference with many, many topics.
And two of them are actually being held as hybrid events if you are in the area. In this world it is a necessity to meet others in a different location, with different experiences.
And when we get to the other side of this---meet face to face!
