Dear Sea Devil Community,
At Cape Fear Community College, we are proud to be part of a groundbreaking collaboration, the New Hanover Healthcare Career Partnership, working to strengthen our region's healthcare workforce. Supported by a $22.3 million investment from The Endowment, this partnership unites CFCC, UNC Wilmington, New Hanover County Schools, and the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce with a shared vision to build a sustainable healthcare pipeline that meets the evolving needs of our community.
On June 9, our partners came together to update the community on our progress in preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals. During this gathering, I was proud to highlight that in 2024 alone, Cape Fear Community College awarded nursing students more than $255,000 in scholarships, $510,000 in housing stipends, and essential support through emergency and exam assistance.
These figures reflect more than financial aid; they represent lives transformed, dreams realized, and a stronger, healthier community. Together, we're breaking down barriers to education and building robust support systems that empower students to succeed while meeting the region's urgent workforce needs.
We're grateful to our partners and The Endowment for believing in the potential of our students and the future of healthcare in New Hanover County. This partnership models what's possible when education, innovation, and community come together with a common purpose. I would also like to thank the CFCC employees whose vision, hard work, and commitment helped bring this initiative to life. Their efforts have made a lasting impact not only on our students but on the broader community we serve.
