Let’s Keep Our City Beautiful
Here are Tips on what you can do to make a difference:
-
Cool It, Can It, Trash It: After cooking, let Fat, Oils, and Grease (FOG) cool down, then pour it into a sealable container and dispose of it in the trash, not down the sink or toilet.
-
Scrape Plates and Pots: Before washing, scrape off any FOG residue into the trash. This simple step can significantly reduce the amount of FOG entering our drains.
-
Use Strainers: Fit all your sinks with strainers to catch food scraps and other solids, preventing them from contributing to FOG buildup.
-
Recycle Used Cooking Oil: If you have large amounts of cooking oil, consider recycling it. Many facilities turn used oil into biofuel, supporting renewable energy initiatives.
Let's take these steps together because every effort counts when it comes to protecting our city's stormwater system and keeping our environment clean and beautiful!

What is Bixby Freedom Celebration all about? #BFC2023
This is the 9th year that The Bridge Church has hosted the Bixby Freedom Celebration. BFC2023 is set to be the biggest and best yet, with an exciting lineup of family-friendly activities. The annual event takes place the Friday before the 4th of July, which this year is June 30th. A range of entertainment, food trucks, patriotic program, and an unforgettable fireworks display is scheduled to be enjoyed by all ages.
Bixby Freedom Celebration has become a beloved tradition for families in the area, offering a fun-filled day of festivities to celebrate our nation’s independence. The event will kick off at 7:00 pm with a variety of food trucks serving up delicious treats, games with prizes, kids’ firefighter challenge, and a fun-filled kids area including free face painting & balloon art. This year we’ve added the Harmony Bridge to the festivities. Food trucks and music will be enjoyed on this bridge that spans the Arkansas river, which is a prime spot to enjoy the fireworks.
As the sun begins to set, we will have our traditional patriotic program, which includes the national anthem, swearing in of new military recruits, and an inspirational message from our pastor, Orlando Juarez. Precisely at 9:45, a spectacular fireworks display will light up the night sky making it an unforgettable experience for all who attend!
