GoFund Me campaign aims to help U8 player from Victoria fight cancer

The Victoria Junior Field Hockey Association is looking for our community’s support in helping one of our own. Eight-year-old Oliver Conway is a member of the U8 Boys program this year but had to stop playing after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour on May 2, 2023.

The Conway family is now in the fight of their lives and they could use our support.

Congratulations to Lynne Beecroft on being awarded

the viaSport Competition Coach of the Year!

Field Hockey BC would like to congratulate legendary coach Lynne Beecroft on winning the prestigious viaSport Competition Coach of the Year! This recognition is a testament to her exceptional coaching skills, dedication, and profound impact on the field hockey community.

After 39 years at the helm of the University of Victoria Vikes women's field hockey program, coach Lynne Beecroft has decided to retire in 2023. "She has amassed 34 national medals (15 of which are gold), coached nearly 40 athletes who have gone on to represent Canada and over 70 All-Canadians, finishing with an impressive overall coaching record of 340-98-89 (wins-losses-ties) but the real legacy lies in that which she has left with her athletes, her colleagues, the community and the sport", wrote Ali Baggott in her article for the Uvikes website.

Again, we are very happy that Lynne is receiving the recoginition she deservers from an organization such as viaSport. Well done, coach!
