Marshall Health Network (MHN) recognized the contributions of its volunteers during a special appreciation luncheon on April 10 at the St. Mary’s Conference Center, celebrating the individuals who support MHN’s patients, families and care teams across the region.
During the past year, more than 336 volunteers — including adults and teens — and 14 pet therapy teams contributed 47,618 hours of service across MHN’s hospitals and clinics. Their efforts enhance the patient experience through thousands of moments of compassion, connection and support.
“Volunteers are an important part of our care teams,” said Julie A. Neal, director of volunteer services for MHN. “Their generosity and kindness make a meaningful difference for our patients, families and staff each day.”
Volunteers assist in a variety of roles, from greeting visitors and supporting hospital staff to providing comfort for patients and their loved ones. Their presence helps create a more welcoming and supportive environment throughout the health system. The volunteer luncheon leads into National Volunteer Week, April 19 to 25 — and provides Marshall Health Network an opportunity to thank volunteers for their service and highlight the collect impact of their contributions.

| | Huntington Children’s Museum Expands Access with New Foster Family Admission Discount | |
The Huntington Children’s Museum (HCM) is proud to announce a new initiative designed to further its commitment to accessibility and inclusion: foster families can now receive discounted admission of just $2 per person for both children and adults.
This new offering ensures that foster families have greater access to the Museum’s hands-on exhibits and play-based learning experiences. The discount applies to the entire family and can be accessed by presenting a Placement Letter or Medicaid Authorization Form at the front desk.
“We believe every child deserves a place where they feel seen, supported, and inspired,” said Raine Klover, Executive Director. “Foster families provide incredible care and stability, and we are honored to offer a space where they can connect, explore, and simply enjoy time together."
This program builds on HCM’s ongoing efforts to make the museum accessible to all families, including its participation in the Museums for All program, which provides families who receive SNAP or WIC benefits with discounted admission of $2 per person, as well as other community partnerships that reduce financial barriers to entry.
The Huntington Children’s Museum, located at 1700 Washington Avenue in Huntington, WV, is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and welcomes children and their grown-ups to explore, create, and discover through play. The Museum is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring a handicap-accessible entrance, an adult-size changing table, and thoughtfully created spaces that support a wide range of needs. HCM also offers sensory-friendly resources and experiences, including sensory bags, quiet areas, and dedicated sensory-friendly events, ensuring that neurodivergent guests and their families feel comfortable and supported during their visit.
