Would those closest to you know how and where to access your important information if you had an emergency or a health crisis? I know this is not a pleasant topic to think about, but we both know that ignoring it isn't going to help you in the long run and could lead to unfortunate consequences.
What if we handle this yucky, but necessary, topic as a manageable project using baby steps?
I recently came upon this checklist from AARP that I feel is short and sweet and covers many important bases.
BABY STEP #1
Fill out this quick and easy 3-page document from AARP. It will not take you long to do and it will give you peace of mind and help those responsible for your affairs. Then tell the people closest to you where you are keeping this 3-page document with your vital information. You can send a copy through registered mail or Fed Ex, but do not email the document since it contains account numbers and other sensitive information that exposes you to the risk of identity theft from a data breach.
Stay tuned next week for Baby Step # 2!
