Spring Arrives at Transplant House

With the arrival of a new season, we're reminded that supporting patients and caregivers at Transplant House happens year round. The weather may change, flowers start to bloom, and the days grow longer, but the need for affordable housing and a caring place to call home remains for those families coming to Cleveland seeking life-saving care. We are honored to welcome them, provide them with resources and services to help them on their journey, and to be a part of their transplant story.

The arrival of spring also encourages us to look ahead to April and Donate Life Month. Here at Transplant House we feel very blessed to see the powerful, life-changing results of transplant in the lives of our guests. For those families traveling to Cleveland for medical care, transplant is their last hope, which is why the decision to say "yes" to becoming an organ donor is so important. Meet Bruce and Teresa

Imagine making plans with your loved one to follow up on your shared dreams and create plans for your lives together after retirement when a life-or-death medical situation changes everything. This was the reality for Bruce and Teresa when, six years after their marriage, Bruce was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He lived with his condition for 8 years, but after contracting COVID Bruce's only option was a life-saving lung transplant.

UH's Pet Pals at Transplant House

What's better than a home cooked meal at Transplant House from Cleveland Cooking Club? How about a home cooked meal with some friendly, four-legged guests! Thank you to Pippa and Charley (and their owners) from University Hospital's Pet Pals program for bringing a little puppy love to the House this month. See photos here.

Celebrating a Transplant Anniversary

On February 7, 2023 Jon Swiatkowski received the gift of a second chance at life from a double lung transplant at the Cleveland Clinic. Although Jon and his wife Julie never stayed with us at Transplant House, they wanted to give back to an organization that understands the needs of, and serves, organ transplant families. In honor of Jon's 1 year transplant anniversary, the Swiatkowskis organized a donation drive to support Transplant House!

We are thrilled to have our Gala event return this year and to honor our longtime partners at Lifebanc. While the event is only a week away, it's not too late to support the event.
