Melanie Zibit - Torso

Meet November featured artist: Melanie Zibit

Melanie has two exciting events coming in the the next few months that she would like to share:

"I am honored me to be asked to submit my profile for this month’s newsletter. For one, I am really excited to be teaming with Yin Peet on a granite project for the next few months to provide a new life for some granite rescued from a building site. Yin Peet is the Visual artist and executive director of Contemporary Arts International https://contemporaryartsinternational.org/about-cai/ , a non-profit organization based in Acton, MA and an international granite sculptor. The garden is the vision of Betty Bothereau, art consultant and owner of the L’Attitude Gallery in Boston https://www.lattitudeart.com/. Although my work is usually in marble or alabaster, this project is inspiring me to tackle creating forms in granite under the guidance of Yin Peet.

Also on the agenda in the coming weeks is the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club 127th Juried Art Exhibit in New York City (November 9 – December 6). This is a wonderful venue for women to exhibit their work. Catharine Lorillard Wolfe (1828-1887) was a prominent New York philanthropist and art collector, and the only woman among the 106 founders of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. https://www.clwac.org/ I will be shipping my sculpture to NYC in early November. I am also excited to have been accepted as a full member of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA). My sculpture will be shown in the IN-PERSON & ONLINE EXHIBITION: New Member’s Exhibition 2024 November 4- December 8, 2024 https://thenawa.org/event/call-for-art-new-members-exhibition-2024/"
