Vicar Aaron's Message

“As you excel in all things…may you also excel in generosity” (2 Corinthians 8:7). This is GLC’s mission verse, and it’s our preaching text this week! But what does it mean to excel in generosity? Here’s one way to think of it: when we let the good gifts of God’s grace and love flow through us, individually and as a community, we excel in generosity.

Generous God, you are the source of all good gifts. May your good gifts flow through us. May your grace and love be made known to others through us, just as we have come to know you through the grace and love of others. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

WONDERING...

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.

Where does the word “generosity” come from?

GLC staff welcomed Lisa Kanzler back to the office as the Office Adminstrator earlier this month! Thank you to Kathie Thurow for stepping up to take on the interim role over the last year. We are grateful to have both of these women in our GLC community.

  • God of abundance, you fill your church with a multitude of gifts. Sustain those among us who feel they are not valued. Open our hearts to the wondrous breadth of all who call upon your name.
  • Bring peace between nations ravaged by war or strife and illumine paths of justice and freedom for those who lead them.
  • God of compassion, your touch brings healing and your word revives us for life. Hear our prayers for all who are in need, and for doctors, nurses, and health care workers who provide care. Turn wailing into dancing and weeping into joy.
  • Where there is hunger among us, open our hands. Where we are indifferent to the needs of others, open our hearts.

Holy God, holy and merciful: into your outstretched arms we commend ourselves and all for whom we pray, trusting in the one who is the way, the truth, and the life, Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.

Each month this summer GLC women will have a chance to meet other women and get grounded in their faith. Trained leaders will cover the same topic on different days and times each month, with the hope that we can accomodate most schedules.

July's Topic: Discernment

How do you make decisions? Most Christians say that God is part of it, but how do you know it is God? We will explore discernment in this month’s sessions! Click HERE to register ASAP!
