The Message this Week

Preaching Text: Luke 13:1-9, 31-35

Between faith and works.  Jesus meets Mary and Martha at Martha’s home.  Mary sits and listens to Jesus. Martha works and her anger simmers. The common take on this is- ‘be like Mary not like Martha’. Sounds great until you live in a world that makes us feel like a slacker if you are anything but ‘busy’.  Is there any space between being and doing?

Holy God, help us to see the value in sitting in Your presence and to trust that being with You will prepare us to ‘do’ differently.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

WONDERING...

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.

Does being saved by grace through faith (a core Lutheran belief) mean I don’t have to do works?

Our Lenten theme, Everything in Between, comes from A Sanctified Art which is a is a collective of pastors and artists in ministry who create resources for worshiping communities. Art will be featured throughout Lent and Holy Week. Click HERE to view artists' statements and HERE to view the Lenten devotional.

Join us on Wednesday evenings at 6PM now through April 9 in Fellowship Hall for Soup Suppers. Click HERE to sign up to bring a soup, salad, side or desert. We will follow with Holden Evening Prayer in the Sanctuary at 7PM.

• Draw us into your loving embrace and change our hearts, that we might live into your call, no matter how challenging it might be.
• Inspire us to protect habitats and turn away from cruelty to your beloved creatures.
• Guide elected officials and hired officers in the self-reflection and examination necessary for true leadership.
• Give strength and courage to those in need, and to all who provide care to them.
• Open the hearts of all who live in the communities into which immigrants move, that they might find welcome and hospitality wherever they go.
• Leif Abrahamson as he has follow up scans this week.

We entrust all these prayers and those of our hearts to you, O God. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
