It is with great joy and hope that I would like to announce the appointment of Fr. Mark Payne as our new Associate Pastor here at St. Anthony on the Lake parish.
Over the 4th of July holiday, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee reached out to me to see if I would be interested in receiving a new associate to assist me and our Parish Leadership Team in serving our parish community. Fr. Mark comes to us from St. Monica and St. Eugene parishes on the north shore, as well the Archdiocesan Tribunal Office where he has served as our Judicial Vicar for a number of years.
After consultation with our Parish Leadership Team, trustees, and council chairs, along with meetings with our Archdiocese, Fr. Mark, and our Parish Leadership Team, it was mutually agreed that Fr. Mark would be a perfect fit and a great addition to our pastoral team. Knowing our 2024-25 budget was already complete, the Archdiocese has agreed to generously cover the bulk of his salary. Therefore, his presence will have little to no impact on our current budget.
On a personal note, I have known Fr. Mark for nearly 30 years as a friend, colleague, and member of my priest support group. He is a highly respected and regarded priest in our Archdiocese. As a canon lawyer and judge he has served our Tribunal for many years. As a pastor he has been deeply loved by the flocks he has led.
As a regular presider on “Heart of the Nation” nationally televised Masses, he is very popular. Fr. Mark is a Vatican II priest whose liturgical style, theology of church, engaging personality, and pastoral presence will be very well-suited for our parish. Fr. Mark began with us Monday, August 19th, where he joined us for our annual faculty/staff in-service. I very much look forward to serving alongside this most gifted and talented Shepherd. I ask that you join me in welcoming Fr. Mark to St. Anthony on the Lake.
On a side note, please know that because of their deep connection with the St. Anthony on the Lake community, both Fr. Ken and Fr. Ted will remain on the help out schedule on a regular basis.
Blessings,
