The Message this Week
Preaching Text: Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23
We begin Matthew’s journey through parables. The parable we begin with today is called the parable of the Sower. Jesus tells this parable to talk about those that hear the word of God but don’t always understand. Let us listen to the Word and hope to understand the Gospel and bear its fruit.
Holy God, you sent your word to us, help us to put aside all of our worries so that we can more fully understand the gospel. In your name we pray. Amen.

- God our gardener, you scatter grace like seed across the world. Continue to cultivate the garden of your church with your abundant Spirit.
- God of creation, guide us in our stewardship of all creation. Encourage us in our preservation of all creation, from the mighty oak trees to the prairie plants and all the creatures that are neighbors to us.
- God our life, you give us the same Spirit by which you raised Christ from the dead. Set our minds on that Spirit whenever fear or condemnation overwhelm throughout the world.
- God our host and table, we pray for children who hunger and rely on school meals, for all who toil under the hot sun without refreshment, for the chronically ill who have exhausted their resources, and for local concerns.
- God our source, tend this assembly with your grace throughout this summer season. May those who travel for work or recreation do so safely, and may visitors find refreshment among us.
- We give you thanks that the roots of your goodness run deep throughout history. We remember those saints who have gone before us in faith.
- For those attending the youth mission trip: Spencer, Dylan, Abby, Joey, Emmy, LJ, Gianna, Lucas, Bud, Hayden, Annisa, Ryann, Riley, Lucas, Zayn, Luke, Lila, Sophie, Calvin, Jess, Kevin, Scott, Mitzi, Faith, Michelle, & Pastor Trudy.
Grateful for your abundant provision and trusting in your goodness, we cast all our cares upon you, through the abundant grace of Christ Jesus. Amen.
