Extended Deadline: Outdoor, Nature-Based Child

Care License Pilot Program

The deadline to apply for the Outdoor, Nature-Based Child Care License Pilot Program has been extended. Interested providers now have until 5:00 PM on June 30, 2025 to submit applications.

The Outdoor, Nature-Based Child Care License Pilot Program is a three-year initiative led by MSDE designed to expand access to high-quality early childhood education through full-day, year-round early learning experiences in outdoor, nature-based settings.

Providers selected for participation will help shape the future of outdoor early learning in Maryland by demonstrating innovative, nature-centered practices that promote children’s growth and development. More information about the pilot program and the application can be found on our website.

Kindness Cards are small, thoughtful notes designed to spread positivity and encourage acts of kindness among students. These cards contain uplifting messages or prompts that inspire recipients to perform good deeds, whether it's complimenting a stranger or helping a neighbor.

Engaging with Families About Sensitive Topics (Mixed Ages) -  Engaging with families about sensitive topics can be difficult but it is imperative to ensure the well-being of children. Strategies such as active listening, respectful communication, and cultural awareness can help navigate these conversations. It is important to approach these discussions with empathy and understanding while also providing resources and support.

Grow Up Healthy! Growth Chart is a valuable tool designed to track children's growth and development over time, providing parents and caregivers with essential insights into their child's health. This chart typically includes key growth metrics such as height, weight, and body mass index (BMI), allowing for easy comparison against standardized growth percentiles. By regularly updating the chart, families can identify potential health concerns early and promote healthy lifestyle choices that support optimal growth.
