KGOU Readers Club: Fatherland by Burkhard Bilger
As a boy growing up in Oklahoma, Burkhard Bilger often heard his parents tell stories about the Germany of their youth. But as vivid as they were, those stories had strange omissions. Then one day a packet of letters arrived from Germany, yellowed with age, and a secret family history began to unfold.
Fatherland is the story of Bilger’s nearly 10-year quest to uncover the truth about his mother's father, Karl Gönner, a teacher and father of four, and a Nazi Party chief prior to and during World War II. Bilger joins KGOU's Logan Layden for this month's Readers Club discussion on Monday, May 29 at 1 p.m., with an encore on Sunday, June 4 at 12 p.m.

KGOU Sunday Radio Matinee: 'We've Never Been the Same: A War Story'
At Fort Campbell prior to deployment, Delta was a ragtag bunch, the "leftovers" as one of their fellow soldiers put it, but on the night of March 18, 1968, they became heroes. The company fought a long and devastating battle — not as long or as devastating, however, as the years that followed, after the men of Delta Company came home separately to live alone with the memories. Transom's Adam Piore tells their story in this week's KGOU Sunday Radio Matinee, May 28 at 12 p.m.

Winner crowned in NPR's 2023 Tiny Desk Contest
NPR Music received nearly 6,000 entries to this year's Tiny Desk Contest, the annual search for the next great undiscovered artist to play a Tiny Desk concert. But Little Moon, a band from Springville, Utah, and their song "Wonder Eye," rose to the top as it surprised the judges, moved them to tears and filled them with hope. Soon the members of Little Moon will play a Tiny Desk concert at NPR's Washington, D.C. headquarters, and headline a mini-tour across the country.
