Camp Kawartha is about to do something remarkable. With your help, we are embarking on a plan to become a provincial leader in environmental, outdoor and sustainability education. We want to inspire the next generation to become tomorrow’s stewards and environmental leaders.
|
Camp Kawartha is preparing to undertake a $3M capital campaign.
Join us on our journey as we upgrade our facilities to showcase sustainable living in action. Every renovation and addition will be a teaching tool to show what is possible in sustainable design
The priorities are:
- Sustainable Central Hub Addition and Renovation - $2,337,000
- Greening of Infrastructure and Ecological Restoration to include a wetland area (Septic System Upgrade) - $436,000
- Creation of a large food garden and reconfiguration of site (moving our current parking lot and maintenance to create more green space) - $319,000
At Camp Kawartha we believe that environmental education can inspire children to become active caretakers of their own communities by showing what effective, sustainable living looks like and by teaching them to appreciate, protect and enhance the living systems that nurture us all.
We recognize it takes a village to foster stewardship and we cannot undertake this work alone. We know that with your help, we can help advance stewardship education throughout the Province of Ontario.
Currently, we’re building our Campaign Team. If you are interested in becoming part of an initiative that will help to ensure that Camp Kawartha will have the capacity to nurture environmental stewards for generations to come, please contact
Jacob Rodenburg
to find out more about how you can become involved.
In January 2018, our Campaign Cabinet will be formally introduced to the Camp Kawartha community. Please watch this space for all of our exciting campaign updates!

Pierre Blin, Master Builder, is constructing a new birchbark wigwam next to our canvas teepee. This will be a new site for programming, and a fantastic teaching tool. Students and campers will learn about the construction, the materials, and how First Nations from this area used natural materials in order to create remarkable, functional items such as shelters, tools and canoes.
|
|
Join us for the Official Opening of our new Accessible Pathway on
Friday December 8th from 1:45 - 4:00pm. Now students, campers and visitors with limited mobility can easily make their way down our beautiful waterfront and will be able to fully participate in activities such as canoeing and sailing. The pathway is one part of our Accessibility Plan - helping to create an inclusive environment so that everyone can enjoy the magic of the outdoors.
