Advancing Disability Inclusion in the Workforce

National Disability Employment Awareness Month

National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is observed every October to raise awareness about employment issues for people with disabilities and celebrate their contributions in the workplace. NDEAM highlights the importance of initiatives that promote inclusivity and accessibility in the workforce, ensuring a more equitable labor market for all. There is more work to be done to close the gap. The unemployment rate for people with disabilities stands at 7.9%, compared to 3.8% for those without disabilities, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
