Youth Leadership & Career Readiness Programs Welcome New Students

Two of the Foundation's core programs launched this month - Youth Leadership Wake Forest and the Wake Forest Career Readiness Academy.

The first session of Youth Leadership Wake Forest was held at the Wake Forest History Museum and gave students a primer course in the history of Wake Forest. Students also spent time exploring the importance of personal legacy, and got to know their fellow classmates who they will spend time with once a month throughout the school year.

The Wake Forest Career Readiness Academy launched its fourth cohort this month with 20 high school seniors from area schools. This intense career development program began with a lesson in self-awareness. Students received their DISC profile assessment and learned how it relates to the workplace. They also paired up with their mentor for the first time, and participated in team building exercises.

Interested in providing a student internship?

Students in the Career Readiness Academy have the opportunity to pursue an internship in the program during their second semester. We will be looking for internship hosts later this fall. If you are interested in possibly hosting an intern, contact Corey Hutcherson, Foundation Executive Director, at corey@wakeforestchamber.org.
