President's Message: It has been an honor serving you!

As 2025 comes to a close and I reflect on the past year, it has been an honor to serve as your FPA of Michigan Board President. It is a privilege working with you, our community of professionals who strive each day to positively impact individuals and families. Seeing so many of you from across our state engaged at events, both in-person and virtually throughout the year was fantastic.

Please join me in thanking our board members and members of our committees who dedicate their time, energy, and expertise to fostering a strong and vibrant association chapter. Their efforts create meaningful opportunities for members to expand their knowledge, build relationships, and advance in their professional journeys.

We want to extend a special thank you to Colin Overweg, Sandra Kerr, and Nathan Zolynsky, whose board terms conclude this year.

  • Colin, thank you for your passion and commitment to building a strong community of the next generation of planners.
  • Sandra, thank you for your leadership of the Women & Finance Knowledge Circle events this year, including the joint mixer with the CFA Society of Detroit.
  • Nathan, thank you for your dedication to advancing career development, through a thriving Student Success Summit program and a successful student scholarship golf outing.

As we express our heartfelt gratitude to our outgoing leaders, we look forward to welcoming four new members to your Board for 2026:

Suzy Beeler

Jessica Connarn

Jennie Spurlock

Cody VanderHagen

Each brings unique talents, fresh perspectives, and a shared commitment to strengthening our chapter. We look forward to the energy and leadership they will contribute.

Looking ahead to 2026, I encourage everyone to stay engaged and explore new ways to connect in the coming year. Attend an event you haven’t tried before, join a committee, or simply reach out to another member for a conversation. The true value of our association comes from how we support and learn from each other, and I’m excited to see what we’ll accomplish together in the year ahead.

Wishing you a joyful holiday season. We look forward to welcoming you back in the New Year!
