Alton Court Asphalt Resurfacing Project

Work starts Monday, July 20 on Alton Court between 8 and 9 streets.

What's Happening

Starting Monday, July 20, the City of Miami Beach will begin resurfacing Alton Court from 8 Street working north, one block at a time, up to 15 Terrace. The construction crew will start on Alton Court between 8 and 9 streets.

Parking restrictions will be in place on the north side of 8 Street between Alton Court and Alton Road and on the south side of 9 Street between Alton Court and West Avenue. Please adhere to posted signage to avoid enforcement measures.

Residents with private parking spaces accessed from the alley need to vacate their space by 7:30 a.m. and will not be able to return in their vehicle via the alley until after 5 p.m. each day. Access will be open overnight, but we are asking for area residents' cooperation with this schedule in order to successfully pave the alley. Driveways and garages may be temporarily blocked while crews complete resurfacing work in the alley; the tasks of milling and resurfacing of asphalt are rolling operations.

The project team will assist with waste collection services while this work is in progress. The haulers will be advised of the construction zone, and the construction crew will assist with moving trash bins to the edges of the alley for pickup. Deliveries may need to be specially coordinated or received via front doors or alternate entrances temporarily to minimize impact from the construction. Residents, property managers and businesses are encouraged to reach out to the public information contact listed below if further coordination is required for your home or business.

This project is funded by the 2018 General Obligation Bond. The G.O. Bond is enhancing sidewalk and roadway surfaces in many places throughout the City of Miami Beach to improve safety and mobility for all.

Work Schedule

  • Work on the first block of Alton Court between 8 and 9 streets will begin Monday, July 20 and is scheduled for completion in approximately one week. Each alley block is expected to take three to five days of work, weather permitting.
  • Following the first alley section, crews plan to work on Alton Court between 9 and 10 streets the week of July 27 and between 10 and 11 streets the week of August 3.
  • The entire project should take approximately two months for completion.
  • Work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Parking will be restricted on Alton Court and nearby side streets for each alley section.
  • To ensure a safe and efficient operation, all vehicles — including commercial vehicles — will need to avoid parking within designated work zones. Vehicles parked illegally will be subject to towing at the owner's expense.
  • This schedule may change due to unforeseen circumstances or inclement weather. Project updates will be shared as the project progresses.
