A. The first Continental Congress briefly considered holding meetings at Beaver Lake, but nobody could agree where to park the wagons.

B. Paul Revere actually shouted, “The British are coming!” while riding a horse up and down the "P line," but history books edited that part out.

C. Benjamin Franklin invented the first Beaver Buggy prototype while trying to find an alternative to walking uphill to minyan.

D. Beaver Lake is in Monticello, New York. It was named after Monticello, the Virginia home of Thomas Jefferson, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence. So, Beaver Lake’s link to the founding of America runs right through the name of our own hometown.

The answer is D.

Our apologies to the beavers and anyone hoping for a secret Revolutionary War tunnel under the lake. The real connection is that Beaver Lake sits in Monticello, named for Thomas Jefferson’s home, linking our little corner of the Catskills to one of the central figures in America’s founding.

Ed Clark was the first caretaker and was followed by Jim. Jim had a large growth on his face that disfigured him and Tomi Karfunkel (first BL President) sent him to a surgeon to remove it and BL picked up the tab. Jim's job here was short-lived and he was followed by Chris Joslin who was a bully and at one point threatened to beat up Jack Furmansky (facilities manager). Chris was fired and was followed by Bill Decker.
