~ Building Community One Positive Story at a Time
| | |
Congratulations Lieutenant Alexander!
" Chief Bryan LaCivita and the Raynham Fire Department are pleased to announce that Firefighter/Paramedic Andrew Alexander has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.
Lt. Alexander is a 17-year veteran of the department. He began his career as a call firefighter in 2006 before transitioning to a full-time role in 2008.
Over the years, he has earned numerous officer certifications through the Massachusetts Fire Academy and holds a bachelor's degree in fire administration. In his new role, Lt. Alexander will serve as the shift commander for Group 1.
"Lt. Alexander has demonstrated dedication, leadership, and a strong commitment to the community throughout his career," said Chief LaCivita. "His experience and professionalism make him an outstanding choice for this leadership role."
Lt. Alexander is an active member of the Raynham Fire Department Honor Guard and participates in the Department's Community Outreach Program, teaching fire safety to students in the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District and to senior citizens.
He lives in Raynham with his wife and daughters. He comes from a family of firefighters — his brother, Justin, currently serves as the Fire Chief in the Town of Easton, and his father, Donald, is a retired Raynham Fire Lieutenant who served the town for more than 30 years."

Escorted in Style, Playing with Pride
This past week, the Bridgewater-Raynham Special Olympics Unified Flag Football Team received a VIP send-off, escorted proudly by the Bridgewater and Raynham Police Departments. They were headed to a joint practice session with the New England Patriots. After that, they travelled to Minneapolis with the team for a chance at playing in the Nationals. Special Olympics brings together athletes across states in the true spirit of sportsmanship and inclusion.
The team is part of Special Olympics Massachusetts, a statewide organization dedicated to providing year-round sports training and athletic competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities. By fostering acceptance, building confidence, and promoting health, Special Olympics Massachusetts changes lives; not only for the athletes but for their families, teammates, and communities. Through programs like Unified Sports®, which partner athletes with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team, they create an environment where everyone has the chance to compete, grow, and shine.
For the Bridgewater-Raynham athletes, this week was about more than just football; it was about celebrating ability, building friendships, and experiencing the joy of being part of something bigger than themselves.

Climate Can-Do:
Pollinator Gardens
We can help bees, butterflies, and birds keep our world in balance with an easy-to-maintain Pollinator Garden.
Pollinators play a vital role in food production, helping to pollinate a significant portion of the fruits, vegetables, and nuts we consume. By creating pollinator gardens, we can help reverse the decline in pollinator populations, contributing to both ecological health and food security.
It is important to plant native species, so New England flora should be your focus. To attract bees, it is suggested to plant white snakeroot, bluebells, or American trout-lilies. To attract butterflies, plant New York ironweed, white wood aster, or purplestem angelica. Hummingbirds, as well as the other pollinators, are attracted to spotted crane's bill, butterfly milkweed, bee-balm, and white turtlehead.
Economically speaking, seeds are the better way to go. Plant them a season ahead (Fall or Winter). Already grown plants, though pricey, are easier and faster. Not only are these gardens pretty to look at, it will save you some time with yard work since you don't have to mow!
It does not matter how much land you have available, whether it is a four feet by four feet or a whole field, pollinator gardens bring life and beauty into our world. You can be a part of this journey to better our planet, one plant at a time.

Museum Pop-Up!
Residents at All American Assisted Living at Raynham enjoyed a unique and nostalgic treat when the Beer Can Museum and Hall of Fame brought its pop-up collection to their community. The Beer Can Museum, based in Massachusetts, is home to thousands of beer cans from around the world, along with vintage breweriana, which are collectible items related to beer and brewing, such as trays, coasters, tap handles, and advertising signs. Celebrating the artistry, history, and pop culture surrounding beer cans, the museum offers a fascinating look at how these everyday items have evolved over time.
The pop-up event was met with a warm welcome, as residents and guests explored the colorful displays, swapped stories, and shared memories sparked by the collection. The crowd was lively, fun, and deeply appreciative of the chance to see such a one-of-a-kind exhibit right in their own community.

Making Honey
We started publishing the BuzzAround 16 years ago; a weekly
compilation of local activities. We have always focused on the spaces where
people are dedicating their volunteer time to make our communities better
places to live. This spreads love in our villages, showing how we bind together
and support one another.
BuzzAround spreads this good news because we all need it. We need
to hear that good people exist, and that we have the power to shape our
communal story. We have the power to create a just, caring society.
Again and again I have seen it work, and shared these stories. We
have helped each other get through...and I am convinced that teamwork, with
mutual respect and understanding, will get us through the challenges to come.

Thank you for reading your BuzzAround, and for contributing to Raynham's hometown life. Your participation makes our community bee sweet as honey.
