Anthony Johnson, overnight attendant

There’s something to be said about the overnight shift, especially when you’re Anthony Johnson (AJ), an overnight attendant at Second Home Pet Resort who works from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. It’s quiet and AJ can get work done, including sweeping, mopping, setting up breakfast, walking the dogs in the morning, and administering medication.
 
“I do what the dayshift does but at night when it’s less active,” AJ said. With less humans around, he gets to spend more time with guests.
 
AJ has loved dogs since he was young. He has been at Second Home 9 months and especially loves working with the dog guests, which make him happy. “I especially like what Second Homes does saving the rescues,” he said.
 
The best part of the job for AJ is that everyone from the owners and managers to the team leads are passionate about working with the animals, while they also are nice. And it’s not every job where people get to play with dogs and watch TV with animals.
 
“Your pets are loved there and it’s one of the best places to be away from home,” AJ said. “I’m really thankful for the opportunity to work at Second Home.”
