Update: Louisville’s Planning Commission did not vote on Redtail Ridge last Thursday, so the hearing continues to a THIRD meeting on Thursday, June 10, at 6:30 p.m.
Planning Commission members should use the time between now and then to get to know the vibrant 389 acres whose fate rests on their vote. Can you believe they haven’t been out there since January of last year? Please email them at PlanningCommission@LouisvilleCo.gov and encourage them to visit the site before June 10!
Limiting the footprint of the development, requiring more open space of the developer, and protecting habitat were not even discussed at the May 20 hearing. Clearly, they haven’t heard from enough of us! Please remind our Planning Commission that they should:
▪ Deny the application to change the approved development size at the STK property from 2.5 million square feet to 3.1 million square feet.
▪ Require significantly more open space at the site, as is the right and responsibility of city government according to criteria set forth in the Louisville Municipal Code: see the case for this here.
▪ Require specific commitments about the types of uses at Redtail. The traffic and financial analyses for Redtail Ridge are based on a single hypothetical assumption about uses: any change to the reality of these uses could mean more traffic and more financial risk for the city.
