SATURDAY, MARCH 28th
NO KINGS 3 MARCH
KICK OFF RALLYS
CONCORD, SUNVALLEY BLVD. 10:30 AM
PLEASANT HILL CITY HALL, 11:30 AM
SOLIDARITY SPAN
ORGANIZED BY:
- INDIVISIBLE RESISTERS CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
- COMMIT TO DEMOCRACY
- LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS
- INDIVISIBLE PLEASANT HILL
Come out with friends and family for this peaceful demonstration to show that in the U.S., we have no kings, dictators or despots. Last October, close to 8,000 people showed up to No Kings in Walnut Creek and more than 2,000 people demonstrated in downtown Pleasant Hill. Let’s make it even bigger in 2026!
The plan is to hold kick-off rallies in Concord near Sunvalley Blvd. at 10:30 a.m. and Pleasant Hill City Hall at 11:30 a.m.
After the rallies, protestors will head to their SOLIDARITY SPAN Honk & Wave spots starting by 12:30 p.m. and continuing until 2 p.m.
We will form a human chain (without holding hands) from Sunvalley Shopping Center to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. Picture a long, continuous, enthusiastic line of protestors all the way down Contra Costa Blvd and Main Street. Sign up for a spot along the span. Plan to bring friends, signs, lawn chairs, and even a picnic lunch if you like! It’s like setting up along a parade route. We will have a sound truck driving by to pump everyone up, along with the honking of passing cars. If you have a larger group, you can adopt a whole block and have a theme or anything creative, safe, and fun you’d like to organize for your block.
It’s vital that you show up and be part of No Kings 3
Let's reach the tipping point of RESISTANCE!

VOTE NO ON VOTER RESTRICTIONS!
Sign the petition: BLOCK the SAVE America Act
The U.S. House passed the SAVE America Act, an extreme “show your papers” voter suppression bill fueled by far-right propaganda and anti-immigrant conspiracy theories.1
Trump is trying to force through national voter ID at the polls. He’s demanding proof of citizenship to register to vote. The SAVE America Act will stop millions from casting ballots in the midterms.2 Our Senators must oppose Trump’s attempt to shred our constitutional right to vote.
Sign the petition: Block the SAVE America Act
Under Trump’s restrictive bill, people can’t register to vote or update their registrations without a passport or original birth certificate — documents that 21 million people don’t have ready access to. Tens of millions of women who’ve changed their last names after marriage and may not have a passport or birth certificate with their current last name would face additional burdens. And every single voter would need to show a government-issued photo ID with an up-to-date address and current name before casting a ballot.3
The SAVE America Act is yet another Trump attempt to interfere in our free and fair elections. There is no mass “noncitizen” voting that justifies any of this. The 2020 election was not stolen. But Trump, Stephen Miller, and Pam Bondi are counting on enough Republicans and MAGA loyalists to get behind these myths so they can rig the midterms. Steve Bannon even wants to send ICE to “surround the polls” come November.4
The Senate must reject the worst voter suppression bill in modern history.
Reject the SAVE America Act now!

VOTE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
FROM PEACE CENTER MEMBER MARTI ROACH of 350 Contra Costa.
This is an important and easy action to support environmental protections, including in Contra Costa County.
BACKGROUND
The Trump administration released plans to open more than 1 million acres of public lands and mineral rights to oil and gas drilling and fracking in Southern California and the Central Valley, Central Coast and Bay Area.
The areas slated by Trump for drilling and fracking are near spectacular public lands, including state parks, national parks, forests, wildlife refuges, and the Carrizo Plain National Monument. Oil companies could target land around popular sites like Pinnacles National Park, Mount Diablo State Park, Henry W. Coe State Park and Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve.
Draft environmental impact statements and resource management plans from the Bureau of Land Management would allow new fossil fuel extraction across eight counties under the Bakersfield Field Office: Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare and Ventura. The Central Coast plan would allow drilling across another 10 counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno, Merced, Monterey, San Benito, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and San Joaquin.

independent media?
Mt. Diablo Peace and Justice Center is collecting a variety of media including readings, documentaries, and podcasts on the topics of the day, to be read and shared.
Our goal is to educate, encourage discussion, and inspire activism.
NEW THIS WEEK:
JEFFREY SACHS: We Are Now in the Early Days of WWIII
Prof. Jeffrey Sachs argues that the world may already be entering the early stages of World War III, as the rapidly escalating conflict involving Iran begins to draw in additional countries and regional actors. The initial strikes and retaliations risk triggering a wider chain reaction across the Middle East and beyond, particularly as allied militias, regional powers, and global powers become increasingly involved. The traditional mechanisms of escalation control—diplomatic restraint, clear red lines, and international mediation—appear to be breaking down, raising the danger that what began as a regional confrontation could evolve into a far broader global conflict.
GEORGE GALLOWAY (MOATS): NO SURRENDER | Iran resists | Eighth day of war | Trumps slams UK | Israel pulverises Lebanon
The drums of war are beating louder — and tonight on The Mother of All Talkshows, George Galloway sounds the alarm.
The Middle East is on the brink of a catastrophic escalation as the conflict enters its eighth day. Israel is intensifying its assault on Lebanon, Iran is refusing to bow to Washington’s pressure, and the world is watching the Strait of Hormuz — the narrow waterway that could trigger a global economic and military crisis.
Donald Trump has demanded “unconditional surrender” from Iran, but Tehran is defiant. If diplomacy fails, the consequences could engulf the entire region — from Gaza and Lebanon to the Persian Gulf and beyond. Is the world sliding toward World War III?
"I know that I just sent out an edition of this newsletter over the weekend, but hours after it was published, the U.S./Israeli force mounted another series of strikes, these on oil storage sites across the vast city of Tehran. The effect was astonishing—a cloud of truly toxic smoke—and I think it needs more notice than it’s been getting, even amidst all the other horrors of this war. This was in essence chemical warfare, even if the chemicals were the (easily anticipated) result of “normal” bombs. And it affected an almost entirely civilian population, that will be paying the price for decades to come. If we’re going to do this we should at least have to look at it. So, I’m going to offer a few images, and a few firsthand quotes gathered by reporters on the ground."
CHRIS HEDGES with ALASTAIR CROOKE: Can Israel & the U.S. Sustain Iran's Military Power?
The Iran War has just begun — but already, Iran’s military prowess, and America’s and Israel’s impulsive imperial hubris, is on display.
Trump’s America is like a rabid dog prowling the globe. It strikes ferociously at whomever gets in its way or encroaches on its deranged mental space or simply is available to satisfy its lusts.

World BEYOND War has
a DIVESTMENT campaign!
About the Campaign
Grassroots-led war divestment campaigns are springing up all over the world, from students organizing to divest university endowments, to municipalities and states coming together to divest public pension funds. Divestment means organizing to remove public and private assets from weapons manufacturers, military contractors, and war profiteers.
Public pension and retirement funds especially are often invested, directly and indirectly, in weapons companies. Teachers and other public servants whose interests lie with promoting human needs have their retirement security tied up with maintaining or enlarging the war industry. Every dollar currently invested in weapons and war is a dollar that could be better spent on job creation, education, housing, healthcare, food security, and so much more.
War profiteering is largely normalized today. We’re working to stigmatize the war machine. World BEYOND War assists divestment campaigns led by our chapters, affiliates, other coalitions, and individuals around the world.
