There has been an uptick in COVID cases across the US, including New York, as schools reopen and indoor activities increase. Now would be a great time to visit your local pharmacy to get a COVID and a flu vaccine.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
… to the many members and friends of FUSW who turned out enthusiastically on September 19, for the launching party of my new book of short stories, The Wall in the Head! Kevin Weber counted 63 guests in our sanctuary, including many of my beloved family and friends, all of whom were seated, entertained, and well fed, courtesy of our wonderful community!!
In answer to those who have asked how they can get more copies, I’m happy to share that the book can be ordered from local bookstores, (e.g., Bronx River Books, https://bronxriverbooks.com/ which has already filled an order for one eager reader). It’s also available from online book sellers, including bookshop.org, barnesandnoble.com, and amazon.com. Or you can contact me, Michael Carman, THANK YOU AGAIN!

New York State Supports Immigrants: New York State’s Ban on 287(g) Agreements Focuses Local Law Enforcement on Local Crimes
Governor Hochul's latest press release addresses the "Local Cops, Local Crimes" provision, keeping locally funded police focused on community safety rather than federal immigration enforcement. Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins expressed strong support, emphasizing that immigrant community trust in local police strengthens public safety for all. Read the full release here.
