Dear Hospice Supporters,

Have you completed our Hospice House survey yet? Have you shared it with all your friends and encouraged them to complete it as well? It only takes a couple of minutes to fill out, and your input is so important.

Part of our community engagement process includes holding focus groups to find out what various groups think about Hospice House. The two focus group reports are available on our website and make for very interesting reading! Thank you to all those involved, and to board member Malerie Meeker for spearheading this project.

We held a Volunteer Appreciation lunch at Royal Zayka on October 22nd for those volunteers who were able to attend. Our volunteers support individuals as they near end of life, whether they are at home, in the hospital or in long-term care; those who are grieving; and those who are caring for someone with a life-limiting illness. We could not provide these supports without the commitment of all our volunteers. Thank you so much for all you do!

Our AGM is coming up on November 28th at the Art Centre above the library. Watch your e-mail for notice, and we hope you will be able to attend. At this meeting you’ll get reports from all our board committees, elect up to 6 new directors, each for a 2-year term, and vote on a special resolution.

We are seeking board members who believe in Hospice, whether or not they’ve previously been involved; who you think would represent us well in the community; who will contribute in one way or another to our growth going forward; who see the big picture as clearly as they see the details; and who you feel would be dedicated and committed to stewarding this organization. It might be helpful to share our vision, mission and values when you consider asking someone you know, because that’s really the first step – a belief in who we are and what we stand for.

Hospice House Survey

Our Society is launching a new project – Hospice House. Hospice House will be a facility where individuals can go to receive both palliative care and hospice support in a home-like environment as they approach the end of life. Hospice House will welcome families and friends to stay with their loved one as well as receive hospice bereavement support.
Hospice House will be a new community service; and we believe it needs to reflect the values and vision of the entire qathet region. To that end, we are engaging community in a number of ways to learn more about your thoughts and ideas for Hospice House. The first step in the process is an online survey. Your time and opinions are important to the Society as we advance the vision and then the reality of Hospice House for our community. Using the link below, we encourage you to respond to our brief survey; it typically takes about 5 minutes. The information we gather will assist us in our decision making as the project moves forward. The survey closes November 11. Thank you.

Update from Our Client & Volunteer Coordinator

Our volunteers are always busy at hospice! Currently we have 41 active volunteers and 50 active clients as of October 19, 2022.

To thank our volunteers we hosted a volunteer appreciation lunch which occurred earlier this month. We had a great meal at Royal Zayka! We also gave away prizes which included a free massage and other gift cards among other things! We are truly grateful for the heart, soul and time our volunteers put into their work with us. We would not exist without you! Thank you!

Bringing together hospice palliative care professionals from across the country, the CHPCA Learning Institute offers registrants a two-day, intensive educational experience on hospice palliative care.
ACP-i 2023 International Conference 
May 24-27, 2023, Singapore
The ACP-i Conference, spearheaded by the ACP-i Society, is held once every two years to bring together an international fraternity of ACP experts to share best practices on ACP. The ACP-i 2023 Conference in Singapore is the first international ACP conference to be hosted in Asia.
