Pongers "Going Strong" Playing Every Monday at Senior Center
Commissioner Steve Eliot of the Monday Y's Men Ping Pong Group reports that "we are going strong." There is now a committed group of about 12 Pongers who play every Monday from 2:30 to 4:00 pm at the Westport Center for Senior Activities.
Steve throws out the following trivia question: This past Monday there was a monumental event. Can anyone guess what it was? The Glass Ceiling in the Group was broken by a talented woman player named Jackie Gillette whose game was commensurate with the talent level of the Group players.
Another trivia question: What does every new player say just before their first game? Answer: "I haven't played in a long time."
The Group thanks Bob Novak who graciously sets up and breaks down the ping-pong tables each week. Since many of our players have had hip, knee, back, and cardiac surgeries, we are grateful to Bob.
Y's Men can either just show up or contact Steve Eliot at steliot@aol.com. Participants must be registered with the Westport Center for Senior Activities which takes only a minute. See you around the nets.
