St. John Henry Newman to be Named Doctor of the Church

On July 31, the Vatican announced that Pope Leo XIV has decided to bestow one of the Church's highest honors on St. John Henry Newman, who was just recently canonized in 2019. Considered one of the greatest and most influential theologians of the modern era, Newman is also well remembered and venerated here at the Brooklyn Oratory Parishes for having brought the Oratory to England in the nineteenth century and thus to the English-speaking world. Mass Intentions

It has been a long tradition in the Church to offer Masses for people to pray, especially for the dead, seeking God’s grace, mercy, and spiritual benefits through Christ’s sacrifice. Usually a modest donation is given for this. In the coming weeks we have several Masses with no particular intentions. If you would like to have a Mass offered for someone (living or deceased), email the parish office at info@oratorychurch.org or click here.
