Jewish Communal Professionals Learning Series

Houston’s Jewish communal professionals now have access to new networking and professional development opportunities with our Jewish Communal Professionals Learning Series. Beginning in 2025, in response to feedback received in the Hineni Houston listening journey, the series brings together all levels of professionals from Jewish nonprofits across Greater Houston to learn from experts on topics ranging from AI to leadership engagement. The final program for the 2025-2026 season will be held on Thursday, May 7, where participants will choose from several topics for discussion related to their interests and current professional curiosities, allowing for new connections with peers across our community. Jewish communal professionals can register here.

Local Impact Fund Applications Open

Since 2023, our Local Impact Fund has provided grants to kickstart new and growing initiatives in our Jewish community. Applications are now open for our 2026 Local Impact Fund grants and all nonprofit organizations serving the Greater Houston Jewish community are invited to apply. All programs or initiatives must be collaborative between multiple organizations and fit within one of the priority areas of education, engagement, or accessibility and belonging. The goal is for programs to have the broadest community impact and respond to community priorities determined in our Hineni Houston listening forums. Learn more and apply for a grant today.

New Organization Directory at houstonjewish.org

One of the new features of our updated website is the Organization Directory, where you can find and share Jewish community organizations and resources, from synagogues to schools and beyond. The directory is designed to make it easy to search and filter by age, interest, and more. Everyone is invited to explore the directory and share it with friends. In addition, the website offers access to the Jewish Community Job Board, supporting those seeking employment opportunities within Jewish organizations and institutions.

Community Security Efforts

Our Joan and Stanford Alexander Family Community Security Program is here to support security solutions, including threat monitoring, facility and event security planning, training, incident reporting, and coordination with law enforcement. Through partnerships with Secure Community Network (SCN) and community stakeholders, we help organizations strengthen preparedness and response. We also bring critical resources to the community by securing Nonprofit Security Grants for Houston Jewish institutions. Since the program’s inception, $350,000 in matching grants has been awarded through the Jewish Federation of North America’s LiveSecure program. Additionally, the Federation has advocated and lobbied for security funding at the state and national levels and will continue to do so.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Houston supports Houston’s Jewish nonprofits with security, professional resources, convening, and funding.

All of this is powered by our Annual Campaign. You can support our work by making your donation to our 2026 Campaign today.
