All Saints’ Day: A Special Invitation to Remember - Info due 10/28

In honor of All Saints' Day, we are offering you the opportunity to memorialize your loved ones who have passed into the greater presence of God by making a contribution to the St. Bart's Flowers and Music Fund and having the names of those whom you would like to remember published in the bulletin.

The names of your loved ones will be printed in the All Saints' Day bulletin and the Flower Committee is preparing to create a special flower arrangement to adorn our altar during the service.

Please click this link for the form to fill out and return to the parish office (either via email, mail, or drop-off). Note: Flower Forms will be available this Sunday if you prefer to grab a form then.

Your offering (in an amount of your choosing) may be made in one of the following ways:

Tree Dedication

On Sunday, October 11th St. Bart's dedicated a serviceberry tree to be planted in our garden by our new generator.

In his 2025 address at Diocesan Convention, Bishop Thomas Brown asked the congregations of the Diocese of Maine to plant a tree as a sign of hope and God's presence in challenging times. In consultation with Joyce Cassidy of the Memorial Garden Committee and Sukie Curtis of the Climate Action Committee, it was determined that a serviceberry tree would be a great addition to our St. Bart's property.

Art Festival Next Week!

Please bring your friends to the 18th annual Yarmouth Art Festival next week!

St. Bart's sanctuary transforms into an art gallery for four days, Oct. 21-24, displaying artwork by 152 artists from across Maine, from Wells to Caribou.

All proceeds this year will go to 5 nonprofits selected by the Vestry: Friendship House, St. Elizabeth’s Jubilee Center, Sea Change Yoga, Growing to Give, and Maine Prisoner Advocacy Coalition. Last year the show raised $15,000. More info, including the Show Catalog and show hours, are on the Yarmouth Art Festival website.

2027 Pledge Campaign

Fall has come and it is time for our 2027 pledge campaign during our Season of Gratitude. Did you see the email to you about this last week? The campaign is going very well. We would be grateful if you increase your 2026 pledge by 11% to help us meet the Vestry’s $345,000 pledge goal for 2027. If you make a pledge, please consider doing so digitally. Please click here.

If you have any questions please contact one of our Stewardship Committee members: Paule French, Jim Berg, Jeff Groves, John Duncan or Jay or Basil Souder. Thank you!

Christmas Fair Preparation: Table Greens

St. Bartholomew’s Christmas Fair is well-known for its offering of beautifully hand-crafted centerpieces. The hands-on work takes place in the church every day of the week preceding the fair and Mary Calvin, who is an immensely talented flower arranger, is very patient with newcomers who want to learn this skill and help. She welcomes many hands because many

pieces must be created to meet the annual demand.

If you purchased a centerpiece last year and have the container and/or decorations stashed in your garage, or if you have a table-top sized basket that could hold a container, please bring them in and leave them on a shelf in the narthex after October 20. Also helpful, but not until the weekend before the fair, are cut greens from your woods or yard! Holly, spruce, pines and other evergreens are appreciated! Beginning November 29, they can be left under the awning at the front of the church. Thank you for your help!

Winter coat and boot drive kick-off for St Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry

October is winter coat drive month for St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry

Time to clean out your winter clothing closet for donations to our Outreach partner St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry. Goodwill is also a terrific place to get winter coats and boots, with special sales every week.

Please bring in winter coats for the month of October (We’ll be asking for winter boots for the month of November.) Large sizes for both men and women are especially needed. There are two bins for St Elizabeth’s in the porch area. You can also give them to Harriet Davis. If you would rather write a check to support this effort, make it out to St. Elizabeth’s Essentials Pantry and leave it in the plate, the office or give it to Harriet.

Reach out to our St E’s representative Harriet Davis if you have questions.
