MAYOR'S UPDATE

From the desk of Mayor Rika Levin

I was delighted to attend Monday’s Memorial Day parade through Ossining and the service held at Nelson Park. There was a beautiful turnout by all our first responders, including OPD, OFD & OVAC. We were also joined by the OHS marching band, Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts, as well as various elected officials past and present to honor and remember all men and women who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Many local volunteer and community organizations showed their pride and participated in this annual event.

Thank you to Michael G O’Connor and Steve Felsenfeld of the American Legion for creating a gathering space for so many to pay tribute!

We want to hear from you! The Village Board of Trustees and staff will be at Here Coffee + Beer (20 Main St, Ossining, NY 10562) throughout the day on both Thursday, June 6th, from 2-8 PM or on Saturday, June 8th, from 10 AM-noon, where we will be collecting the community's input on the future of Station Plaza.

While we are there, we plan to share updates on pending projects, including:

  • 30 Water Street Construction/timing
  • Train Station solar canopy
  • Project Mover

Please join us!

The official raising of the Juneteenth flag for the third time in Ossining will occur on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 9:30 AM at Market Square (corner of Main St and Spring St). We are proud that the flag will be flown throughout the entire month of June to acknowledge and honor the freedom of formerly enslaved Africans in America, as well as the ancestors of Ossining's black community.

The Ossining LGBTQ+ Alliance, in collaboration with the Village of Ossining, is proud to announce the official raising of the Pride Flag. All are invited to attend.

Local, county, and state elected officials and representatives from the LGBTQ+ community will attend the flag-raising ceremony.

The rainbow flag is raised in June, the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, which was the catalyst for Pride Month. During this time, we reflect, honor, and amplify the voices of the LGBTQ+ community past, present, and future.

The raising of the flag will immediately follow remarks from members of the LGBTQ+ community and elected officials.
