FROM THE ORGAN LOFT

This week I am sharing the beautiful connection between Christ the King Sunday and Thanksgiving! "Nun danket alle Gott" is indeed a perfect choice for this celebration. The hymn, composed by Martin Rinckart in the 17th century, is one of the most beloved German chorales, and its message of gratitude and praise fits wonderfully with both occasions.

When played as a triumphant march on the organ, it truly captures the majestic spirit of Christ the King Sunday while also expressing communal thanksgiving. The way the chorale melody weaves through the piece (sometimes hidden,) adds layers of musical interest and meaning. The text's theme of giving thanks to God "with heart and hands and voices" resonates particularly well with the American Thanksgiving celebration.

It's time for the December Christ Church RaiseRight! Order -- Christmas is a-coming!

Paul will place a new card order on the morning of Monday, December 9. Please place your orders accordingly. If you plan to mail Paul an order with a check, please (a) mail it by Wednesday , December 4, or, better, (b) advise him by email when you mail it of what your order is so that he can place it on time despite possible Post Office delays. Or, if you place your own order directly on the RaiseRight website or app, Paul will be able to see it there when he orders the monthly batch.

You can avoid writing Paul a check by using their payment options through your checking account of credit card (checking costs a 29 cent charge per order; credit cards charge a percentage that is usually more).  And if you want physical cards delivered directly to your home, you can do that through the app, although you will be charged for delivery.  If you order for delivery through me, the church covers the delivery charge.

The Christ Church Grief Support Group Corner

Our next session is this

Tuesday, December 17 at 6pm.

This six-session series is for adults grieving the death of a loved one. The group includes education about grief and loss and provides participants an opportunity to share their experience.

Connecting with others hand-in-hand who are also grieving a loss can help you through this difficult journey. You will be provided with a safe, supportive environment for healing.

Using discussion and storytelling, can help you understand the grieving process and your emotions, as well as give you strategies for coping with guilt, anger and loneliness on special days and holidays.

It is recommended that participants wait at least two months after a death before attending a group.

There is no cost for attending this group and it is open to the public for registration.

Allow us to connect hand-in-hand with you!

6pm-7pm: December 17; January 7 & 21.
