Congress in Chicago was so exciting, and it took so much energy, planning, and time.
We've spent the last 5 weeks in a dead heat to make Congress a success, and what a success it was!
You'll be reading more about it in the upcoming
E-News (also delayed because of Congress) and the new President's Corner. Kudos to everyone on the Planning Committee, especially
Nancy Price who pulled out all the stops to give us time to do the work and still connect with one another. And to
Laura Dewey and
Darien DeLu who orchestrated our first
LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE, offering solid leadership training for a cadre of WILPF women who may be our Pipeline to future leaders at the national level.
Finally our Congress Coordinator
Chris Wilbeck deserves a HUGE thank you for the tireless efforts she provided to make the details and logistics fall seamlessly into place. Chris will be continuing as our Interim Managing Director through January. We just can't say enough about how wonderful an experience it was. "Inspiring and Healing" were some of the accolades we heard!
We're a little exhausted and running behind
, so we're postponing the August ONE WILPF CALL.
It's just too much on top of a lot of last minute Congress clean up details and work we've let slide in order to make sure Congress went well.
We apologize. We may schedule a make-up call before September, so pay attention!

Here's What We Are Planning for September

We had so many exceptional workshops at Congress that we wish EVERY WILPF Member could have attended. We're going to select 3-4 of the most popular ones and invite the workshop facilitators to present an abbreviated form of their workshop, take some questions from our callers, and then offer break out rooms to continue the dialogue and come up with next steps to move these ideas and visions forward.
It's a great way to continue conversations that were cut short because of time constraints, and make sure that those discussions turn into some actionable next steps.
That's Not All
The DISARM COMMITTEE is launching a major project, the
Project To End The Whole Nuclear Era. It's got several parts and the DISARM Working Group will explain all of it and how YOU and YOUR BRANCH can play a lead role in its success. This is about promoting the UN Treaty To Ban Nuclear Weapons, and also end all nuclear energy projects. They've got some great ideas about how you can take action and make a difference!
