Because Presbyterians celebrate their heritage!

A night full of culture, tradition, and PanAm spirit!

Pan American School students celebrated the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month with a special Mexican Night, bringing the community together to enjoy the traditions and culture that make us who we are.

Tuesday in Jerusalem

Rev. Bobby Musengwa

Transitional General Presbyter

One hundred fifty thousand people. One city built for forty thousand. And one man from Galilee who made powerful people look foolish yesterday and is walking back in today. Historians argue about the exact numbers. Nobody argues about the mood.

This week, join us in prayer for the members, staff, and clergy of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Austin; First Presbyterian Church, Rockport; Grace Presbyterian Church, Victoria; Leander Presbyterian Church, Leander; and New Hope Presbyterian Church, La Feria.

The Presbytery office is aware of a scam circulating that pretends to be from our Transitional General Presbytery, Rev. Bobby Musengwa. This email asks the recipient to purchase gift cards on his behalf and to keep it a secret. Please remember that the Presbytery staff will never email you directly asking you to purchase gift cards on their behalf. Be especially wary of communications that urge you to act quickly or to do something in secret.

Please share this information with your congregation members and remind everyone to stay vigilant when dealing with digital communications.

Covenant Presbyterian Church in Austin, Texas, directs $200k to help its neighbors overcome financial barriers

Covenant Presbyterian Church in Austin, Texas, is directing $200,000 to four community organizations working to remove financial barriers that can keep residents living in Texas’ capital city from achieving stability.

According to a news release, rather than creating new programs, the church is investing in organizations with established expertise in four areas where a single financial or bureaucratic obstacle can have lasting consequences: housing instability, predatory lending, medical debt and lack of access to identification.

In the News

University/San Antonio to Host Sacred Ground Video Discussion Group

Sacred Ground is a video- and readings -based dialogue series on race, grounded in faith. The 11-part series, revised in 2026, is built around a powerful online curriculum of documentary videos and readings that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories. Small group members complete readings and watch videos prior to each meeting. There, they discuss the assignments confidentially in light of their personal experiences, including family stories, economic class, and political and regional identities.

UPC’s next group will start in October. For more on this learning opportunity, contact Doug Posey at dpposey@earthlink.net or Carla Monroe-Posey at cmonroeposey@earthlink.net.

Mark your calendars for Holy Smoke on October 11 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in San Antonio. This is the sole fundraiser to help sponsor a house for the Spring build 2027. The cost of building a home has increased by more than 50% since Covid. However, we remain committed to providing affordable housing for deserving families.

We will have some wonderful items available in the silent auction.

If you need tickets delivered to your church, wish to provide food, an auction donation, or want additional information, please contact Nancy Hester at nhestertx@gmail.com or 210-867-6736.
