CARPC SEEKS INPUT ON REGIONAL LAND USE PLAN
The Capital Area Regional Planning Commission is rewriting the Regional Land Use Plan and requests your input on draft goals and objectives. The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
WATER RESOURCES
BECWA MEETING FOCUSES ON FLOODING, WATER MITIGATION
Last month, over 50 people attended the Black Earth Creek Watershed Association (BECWA) fall meeting in Cross Plains. Government representatives, nonprofits, and citizens discussed the impacts of the August 2018 floods on the watershed's communities, farms, and fish. Mike Rupiper shared CARPC's proposal for a watershed green infrastructure plan.
SALT SUSTAINABILITY ON THE UW-MADISON CAMPUS
Join the 2020 UW-Madison Water Resources Management graduate students for their final presentation on salt sustainability on the UW-Madison Campus. The presentation will expand the conversation surrounding salt use and its effect on Madison-area water resources. The students will present findings from their study on current policies and salt use along with recommendations for university-wise reductions.
HOUSING
HOUSING: AFFORDABLE TO WHOM AND WHERE?
Interested to know who can afford what housing and where? We are too. Housing issues in Dane County are on many of our radars currently, and for good reason. Housing prices are increasing faster than wages and a growing number of people have trouble affording a place to live. In this month’s data feature, we look at workforce housing for low-wage workers.
2019 DANE COUNTY HOUSING SUMMIT
This year's Dane County Housing Summit featured engaging presentations on the many facets of housing. Presentations and video from the Summit are now available on the Dane County Housing Initiative (DCHI) website.
2019 DANE COUNTY HOUSING NEEDS ASSESSMENT
In the last decade, Dane County's household income, number of households, and population have all grown at an average rate of 1.3% per year; jobs have grown 1.7% per year. However, the number of housing units has only grown 1.1% each year, while rents have grown 2.3% on an average annualized basis. The result has been a real shortage of all types of housing units in the county. Learn more about our county's "Housing Gap" and related issues in the 2019 Dane County Housing Needs Assessment.
