Keynote Session: Leading the Person, Not the Problem

Healthcare leaders are expected to drive results in an environment where change is constant, and success depends on influencing people with different personalities, perspectives, motivations, and levels of experience. The most effective leaders recognize that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to leadership. This keynote explores how adapting your leadership style to the individual and the situation builds trust, strengthens accountability, and improves collaboration across finance, clinical, and operational teams.

Presented by: Wendy Fong, Strategist

Wendy Fong is a healthcare executive and strategist who has spent more than 25 years leading inside the organizations her audiences work in — integrated health systems, physician practices, and private equity-backed healthcare ventures.

During her tenure as Associate Vice President of Operations for Memorial Hermann's Neuroscience Service Line, Wendy led a $60M service line spanning 16 hospitals and more than 100 physicians, growing it through acquisitions, academic partnerships, and new models of care. Over her career, she has led more than ten mergers and integrations — and every one of them taught her the same lesson: deals are won on paper, but value is created or destroyed by people. The hardest problems in performance are rarely technical. They're human: physician alignment, team accountability, and leading people through change they didn't choose.

That conviction led her to found Chief Gigs, a people and strategy advisory firm serving healthcare, private equity, energy, engineering, and real estate organizations, and to co-develop SHIFT™, a leadership framework grounded in behavioral science that helps leaders execute strategy through their people.

12:00 PM-1:00 The Financial Return on Authenticity

When promises made from how a healthcare organization communicates its purpose, capabilities, and guiding values are fulfilled through tangible experiences, the result is a competitive advantage of authenticity that increases patient satisfaction, strengthens loyalty, attracts new business, and improves employee engagement for a stronger bottom line.

In fact, authenticity achieved from patients and employees experiencing who you say you are generates the most valuable currency in business - Trust.

This presentation will demonstrate how realizing the economic benefits of authenticity requires operationalizing the messages a healthcare organization uses to differentiate itself in the market and how holding itself accountable is critical to building and safeguarding trust.
