Catholic Charities is our Partner of the Month
Brunswick Co Disaster Expo: Sept 11; 10-2 PM
NC Catholic Volunteers: Sept 18

September is the month we remember Hurricane Florence. Here at the Harrelson Center, we remember how Catholic Charities swiftly rose to meet the need for rescue, recovery and restoration.
Indeed, CC is still working with families who are in recovery from Hurricanes Matthew and Florence. While Hurricane Matthew funding is no more, they continue to support a few families through their case management services. Their case load for Florence recovery however, remains very active and covers six counties.

To aid in that effort, NC Catholic Volunteers is coordinating four repair events with WARM. Volunteers who can paint, use a hammer, possibly put up drywall or put down flooring are needed. Visit here to lean more and sign up.

CC will also be on hand at the Brunswick County Disaster Expo on Sept 11, at the Brunswick Senior Center in Supply.

On Sept 7, CC will host all 8 offices of Catholic Charities Diocese of Raleigh. "This is the first time we will all meet in person in years!" Emilie said. "This gives us an opportunity to connect, discuss best practices and just catch up!" We are so happy our new event space, Plaza on Princess, allows Emilie to host on campus!

"The Harrelson Center really provides a unique opportunity to serve people holistically. If I'm not the expert in one area, I know already that somebody is within the Harrelson Center. It's an amazing way to provide a warm handoff so that people have all of their needs served." - Emilie Hart, Regional Director for the Cape Fear Chapter of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Raleigh
StoryCorps on campus Sept 9 - Oct 8!
WHQR is bringing StoryCorps back to Wilmington and their recording studio will be here at The Harrelson Center! Congratulations to Stanley Williams
Four years ago, Stanley made the decision to fulfill a lifelong dream of working in the legal profession. Despite having been discouraged for most of his life from pursuing such a dream, he decided to move forward and started the paralegal program at CF Community College. He was the first in his family to attend college. There were many obstacles along the way, and at one point he almost gave up. But today we celebrate one big step toward the dream. Stanley graduated in June 2021 with a certificate in paralegal studies!
