Coral Gables illuminates pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the City of Coral Gables proudly supports awareness efforts. As we shine a pink light to the fight to end breast cancer, City Hall will be lit pink every night through the end of the month. Several city departments are showing their support for the cause, including the Public Works, Solid Waste division team who participated in a Solid Waste Pink Out day. The Fire Department organized and designed a breast cancer t-shirt to be worn by city employees and the Police Department has a year-round dedicated vehicle with breast cancer awareness messaging.
“Coral Gables is proud to stand for the fight to end breast cancer,” said Raquel Elejabarrieta, director of Human Resources. “In recognition of the value and importance of early detection, breast cancer screenings are being offered to employees and we urge residents to screen as well.”
