July e-Newsletter
Dear Reading Center Friends,

Great news! In late June, the state legislature in Minnesota completed its work and passed a new two year state budget. Included in the education budget was a $3 million investment in professional development for teachers in the science of reading. We have been advocating for the state to help teachers and districts fund robust professional development in reading for several years.

The $3 million is allocated to the state Department of Education to administer a grant program for educators to take LETRS. We will pass along information about the new grant program as we learn more. This is exciting and will allow 1500 Minnesota educators over the next two years to gain skills to serve dyslexic and other struggling students in their classrooms.
