LAST WEEK'S BUSINESS MEETING

ANNUAL MEETINGS MAY 3, 2025


The board fixed Saturday, May 3, 2025, as the date of the annual club meeting. The agenda will include approval of bylaws amendments and elections.


The foundation meeting will follow immediately.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE


The board constituted the Nominating Committee with the following volunteers present at the meeting: Immediate Past President Amy Jenner, President Tom Watson, President-elect Harry Spencer, Past President Steve Thomas, and Past Club and Past Foundation President Bill Brady, with this standing committee’s purpose and duties as defined in the club policies:

  • Purpose: Identify and nominate candidates for officers and directors to fill vacant seats before the annual meeting. Other vacancies should be nominated within 60 days of his/her resignation. 
  • Duties: Identify and nominate candidates for 5 officers and 5 directors to fill vacant seats before annual meeting. Successors should be nominated within 60 days of his/her resignation. Traditionally, the Nominating Committee consists of a majority of our past presidents, the current president, and the president-elect.


The board charged the committee to report to the members no later than Saturday, April 5, 2025.


BYLAWS COMMITTEE


The president created a (select) Bylaws Committee with purpose to review the club’s and foundation’s bylaws and duty to report proposed amended and revised bylaws to the club and foundation no later than Saturday, April 5, 2025, for approval by the members at the club and foundation annual meetings on Saturday, May 3, 2025.


The committee shall be dissolved upon completion of its charge.


Tom appointed the following members: Foundation President Keith Johnson, Past Club and Past Foundation President Bill Brady, Debbie Rose, and Secretary Bob Uzenoff.


The committee met yesterday and plans to meet weekly in January, reporting to the club at the meeting on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

Happy Holidays from Kiwanis

Each December, the Kiwanis Club of Weston wishes everyone happy holidays with a wreath constructed with greens donated by Weston Gardens, decorated and hung by Kiwanis members on Weston's historic onion barn on Weston Road, opposite Weston Shopping Center. Kiwanis supports the Weston Warm-Up Fund, Inc. by transporting, for a donation, residents' Christmas trees to the wood lot at Emmanuel Episcopal Church for the annual community bonfire.

This Kiwanis Club of Weston event is planned by the Community Service Committee, Allison Lisbon and Harvey Luft, co-chairs.
