Dear UP partners and friends,

Thank you to the 100+ of you who registered for UP’s Annual Meeting – it was amazing to see so many people come together to share stories of youth and adults creating a more equitable education for everyone! We heard from teams about how UP’s facilitation, strategies, tools, and ongoing coaching are used in schools to ensure that all young people can pursue active roles in their learning, their lives, and their community.

If you missed the meeting, you can see the recording of the meeting here:

Youth Program Specialists Ana Lindert-Boyes and Maisie Franke, Board Member Isis Bandele-Asante, and Executive Director Lindsey Halman served as hosts for the meeting

At the meeting, we premiered our new promotional video! The video (also linked below) and our 2021-2022 Annual Report provide a look at what UP's work looks like in action and what it means to our partners.

Addressing the needs of all learners is critical to meeting the challenges of our time, and UP is committed to helping youth make lasting, concrete changes in their educational communities. With this commitment, cost should never be a barrier. All of UP’s work and growth is only possible with generous community support; thank you for making all of this possible! Working together, we can ensure that educational equity becomes a basic human right for all young people, now and into the future.

UP extends our gratitude to the teams from Brandywine School District (DE), Harwood Union High School (VT), Montpelier High School (VT), Monument Mountain Regional High School (MA), and our five youth interns for sharing their WHY for youth-adult partnership and their HOW it has influenced them and their community.

Please support us with a gift to help UP for Learning empower our school teams. If you already have – THANK YOU. If you have yet to give, please do so today! You can give online, or by mailing a donation to: UP for Learning, 155 Elm Street, Suite 1, Montpelier, VT 05602.

At the meeting, we also shared the newest issue of Trailblazers, a student-driven e-magazine about the Education Transformation Movement! As of 2021, Trailblazers has partnered with UP for Learning in order to continue to grow and develop as an organization. This is the first issue published by the new leadership team. Congratulations!

At the close of our meeting, we provided participants with a reflection tool (feel free to add to this!) to think about what was alive for them after the inspirational hour of storytelling. Here are some of the reflections:

“Thank you for such authentic and powerful work -- and for walking the talk of youth-adult partnership through all aspects of UP.”

“I am new and learned so much about UP and really, every student in every school should have the opportunity to be part of this!”
