TIG in the News | iGaming Cannibalization, Tribal Markets

Following the release of our report Economic Impacts of iGaming Expansion, The Innovation Group (TIG) has received a few opportunities to discuss its findings in more detail. The report’s lead author, Brian Wyman, shared his thoughts on cannibalization and why it's such a divisive issue with Steve Ruddock on his Straight to the Point podcast – listen for a more nuanced take on both the report and the broader issue. More recently, CDC Gaming expanded their reporting on the subject, including feedback from Wyman about pushback on the study and the expansion of our 2023 work for the Maryland Lottery & Gaming Commission. Expect more from Wyman later this week on the heels of iGaming sector discussions happening now at NEXT Summit New York.

Ahead of the Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention (IGA) later this month, TIG Partner Chris Irwin authored a new market report for the 2025 edition of Tribal Government Gaming. The Minnesota Model offers historical context for both tribal nations and gaming in the state, outlines and examines current gaming segments, explores the opportunities and challenges around the introduction of sports wagering, and illustrates the overall market potential for Minnesota. Last year, TIG’s Alex Goldstein produced a similar report for Washington. Contact Chris to set up a meeting at IGA to learn more about our work in Tribal Country.
