We are the World - Liturgy
With our new study we have new worship liturgy! We are singing in Spanish and using shaker eggs. We are carrying in a giant globe - enacting a Global Village (in the hymn, In the Midst of New Dimensions).
And we are chiming "We All are Neighbors" along with lyrics by John Stanton.
We truly are a Global Village of neighbors!

Study of the Book of Confessions PC(USA)
Discovery Study 2026 as of 9/23/26
The Barmen Declaration (1934) was written as an urgent statement of resistance to Nazism. In fact each one of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)’s confessions is rooted in a social crisis and attempts to answer how believers in Jesus’s grace can respond faithfully to unsettling challenges.
Each week we will study a writing from the Book of Confessions and appreciate the context of humans resisting evil and attempting to bear witness to God’s goodness.
These 10 “confessions” were written across 1,700 years and span 4 continents. May this study enrich our Everyone’s a Neighbor 2026-2027 theme—seeing ourselves as part of a great movement of God’s global, expansive love. Our beliefs don’t isolate us or make us superior. They teach us the value of praying well with others for the sake of mutual flourishing.
| | | |
Study Continues
How about a deeper dive into Presbyterian beliefs by studying a tiny bit from each of the works in the Book of Confesssions?

What is your favorite Bible Story? How does God "still speak" through it?
This week we study the 2nd Helvetic Confession. another confession from the Reformation era - perfect for Reformation Sunday!
This confession opens by lifting up the value of scripture and how God still speaks through the word of God in Scripture.

Take the Beth F Challenge!
Pastor Sarah would never single anyone out, mention them in a sermon or put them in the newsletter unaware. Unless, maybe, you are Beth F (pictured, on left with Bri).
Anyway, she got me comparing the Nicene and Apostles' Creeds (sermon notes in worship reflections, 10/4/26).
And you can do the same! Here's your own DIY worksheet.

Take the Madeline Challenge!
Pastor Sarah would never single anyone out, mention them in a sermon or put them in the newsletter unaware. Unless, maybe, you are Madeline (pictured).
Madeline just stopped by the office today to see if there were any copies of the Book of Confessions! She got one!!
If you'd like one, let Pastor Sarah know, too.

Everyone's a Neighbor
2026-2027 Theme
| | | |
Everyone's a Neighbor
The 2026-2027 Theme is Everyone's a Neighbor.
The Neighbor is a powerful image in the Bible.
The Greatest Commandment is to love the Lord your God with heart and mind and spirit. A second command is like it: Love your Neighbor as your self.
In Luke 10 someone asks Jesus, who is my neighbor? Jesus tells a story of a Samaritan who tends the wounds and cares for a stranger who was found in a ditch.
48th St has been under construction for a couple of years and should re-open later this year. That makes us think afresh about our Neighbors and neighborhood.
We believe God has led us to this theme. Let us be prayerful and let this theme teach us this year.
| | | | |
What does it mean to be Presbyterian?
We are happy to live into Jesus' vision of oneness of all people (John 17:11, 21-23).
And we can also be proud of our distinctive Presbyterian tradition.
What are we known for?
Look at our "Seal" (Symbol)-- and be listening in church to learn more. Or, read ahead here.
And the picture below celebrates 4 moderators with our learners on June 14.
