CEO Update: Increasing access to pharmacy services

CMH has seen significant growth in its pharmacy services thanks to new technology and strategic expansions. Recent milestones include doubling prescription volumes at Stephens Pharmacy and acquiring Evans Drugs locations in Bolivar and Buffalo, which added 11 staff members and expanded access to medications in these communities.

Welcome Dr. Gary R. Highfill

Gary R. Highfill, M.D., is an otolaryngologist at the CMH ENT & Allergy Clinic. He attended medical school at the University of Missouri School of Medicine, Columbia. Dr. Highfill finished an internship in general surgery and a residency in otolaryngology at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He is board certified by the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Call 417-328-7000.

Keeping kids safe and warm in car seats

As a general rule, bulky clothing, including winter coats and snowsuits, should not be worn underneath the harness of a car seat. In a car crash, fluffy padding in a coat immediately flattens out from the force, leaving extra space under the harness. A child can then slip through the straps and be thrown from the seat. Here are some tips to help strike that perfect balance between keeping little ones warm as well as safely buckled in their car seats during cold temps.

CMH upgrades Patient Portal experience

CMH upgraded its Patient Portal with a new design and improved features. The redesign includes easier navigation for all users and the new current stay dashboard. This feature is for hospital inpatients and residents of CMH's long-term care facilities. It provides access to key information about the patient’s care. The updated Portal serves patients of CMH and its partners Ellett Memorial Hospital and Ozarks Community Health Center.

Miscarriage and Infant Loss Support Group

Citizens Memorial Hospital is offering a new support group for individuals who have experienced a miscarriage or infant loss. The sessions will address various topics, including remembrance, coping and navigating the next steps for those who have experienced miscarriage or infant loss.


A six-week bereavement class will begin Thursday, Feb. 20. The classes are free and open to individuals who have experienced a miscarriage or infant loss within the past three years. Registration is required, and space is limited. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Feb. 12.
