Happy Birthday!

Bob Abrams turns 100!

This Sunday, a day shy of his official July 31 birthday, we will celebrate Bob’s 100th! His biggest wish has been to worship in the sanctuary with his church family, out-of-town family members, and special friends. As we know, if Bob has his mind on it, it is going to happen.

Bob’s family invites everyone for cake and ice cream, fruit, and punch in Henry Young Fellowship Hall in our back building about noon, just after worship. Come and join in the fellowship, accolades, and laughs. What a joy it will be to gather and thank God for Bob’s presence on this earth and to recognize this wonderful man and his well-lived life.

As always, if you are not feeling well, please stay home to worship on Zoom, and follow up later with Bob by phone, card, or Facebook. All expressions of caring will be cherished.

A Message from David Paul Gibson

Dear Friends,

Please allow me to take this opportunity to thank you for your kindness and support while I served as your Director of Music.

Coming to CHPC near the end of the pandemic and while the church was dealing with internal issues demanded a rebuilding plan and a steady hand. Because of the musical contributions of those faithful church members both in our choir and instrumentally, and the additional efforts of Frank Kirk, Jr., I believe that we were able to make good things happen each week in a swift and effective manner. Certainly, the excellent leadership of the Rev. Dr. Peggy Hinds has facilitated all that the music ministry has been able to accomplish. We owe her many thanks.

Bringing my fifty-plus year career to an end has not been an easy decision, but I do so without regrets. I know that I have worked hard these many years to bring the very best of myself to accomplish God’s plan for me in God’s church. I cannot imagine a better or more fulfilling use of my talents or education.

Looking ahead, I see very positive things for CHPC. God always has a plan, and I believe God’s plan includes an excellent professional musician and beautiful music ahead for your worship services. I look forward to hearing great reports from the choir.

I especially want to thank the choir for our delicious dinner at Mesh and for the very generous gift card. Also, my thanks go out to the Deacons for the lovely reception following my recital and for the beautiful orchid. Indeed, I feel very spoiled.

I wish the church continued success in all its endeavors and will be praying for you as you continue your journey as a church family.

Most sincerely.

David
