| | As followers of Christ, we Seek others in our community, Serve their needs, Grow in the love of Christ, and Connect with each other | Don't forget to fall back this Sunday: The only time the church actively encourages you to spend an extra hour in bed! | | |
Pastors' Points:
This Sunday we celebrate All Saints Day. The day where we, as a church, remember and celebrate those who have gone before us. We take the time to honor the grief and love we have for those we have lost. And we will look to Revelation 7 -- as we look both behind and ahead of us. The communion of saints that surrounds us includes not just those who have gone before but people in the present world, too. We are sustained in our faith by people of every tribe and nation and language. Our prayers are strengthened and our praise harmonized by people around the world that we know nothing of… but they’re there, serving and loving and praying and praising.“The lamb will be the shepherd.” Here’s the mystery of God’s radical divine humility. We are led by the lamb who has been subject to us and our will and even our violence. Now that’s reconciliation.“God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” We look forward to that, but it better not just be for ourselves. We might pray for the tears of those who suffer way more than we do.
Peace be the journey,
Pastor Emilee

UWF Green Team Tip of the Week, “Faith in Action”
Between fast fashion and kids growing two inches overnight, it’s way too easy to get caught in a cycle of constant buying and clutter—not to mention what manufacturing all those extra clothes does to our planet and our wallets. Instead of dragging worn-out kids through crowded store aisles, why not shop amoungst friends!? . Make a morning of it with coffee, snacks, and a casual clothes-swap hangout where the kids can pick out "new-to-them" styles. You’ll keep textiles out of landfills, save a bundle on back-to-school or seasonal gear, and build community while you’re at it. Win-win-win!
Do you have a heart to make this happen here at FUMC? Contact Sandy Howson and we can get started organizing a clothing swap!
